Welcome Expat Partners & Trailing Spouses

This is my first blog spot and the starting point of a purposeful and exciting new adventure.

If your main reason to move was for your partner’s job or education and you find it difficult to give up your own career.

If you live in a remote or isolated location with few professional opportunities,

If you would like to work but cannot find a job for different reasons,

If you feel overwhelmed and have no clue where to start,

You are in the right place

You too are a member of our worldwide diverse cohort of traveling partners tagged as a “trailing spouse”.

Did you know that only about 3% of trailing spouses get help to find a job or obtain a working permit! Ouch, that is the harsh reality.

You are not alone!

There is nothing wrong about accompanying and supporting your other half through his (… or her)* career. By the way, *you are most probably a woman, almost 90% of trailing spouses are, but if you’re a male trailing spouse, kudos to you! We are pleased to have you here too!

And it is also normal to worry about your future because of the financial dependence and the loss of personal income.

You have probably already looked at the plethora of information available, whether online with expat blogs and social media groups, or on the ground through local associations and networking events, to help you with the so-called trailing spouse syndrome.

Unfortunately, you have also realized that very few (if any), really address the real and professional challenges head-on and bring actionable solutions.

Don’t beat yourself up!
